Environmental Studies Through Arts & Sciences

ESAS Mission

logoOur mission is to utilize art and science to develop an understanding of our environmental concerns that the world is facing in the 21st century. We are committed to promoting a global awareness of how humanity is impacting the natural world. It is our moral responsibility to create a more sustainable relationship with the Earth. To accomplish these goals, we will use project-based learning to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

About ESAS

The Environmental Studies through Arts and Sciences Magnet (ESAS) uses California's Environmental Principles and Concepts  to integrate environmental studies into all classes. Each grade level also has its own focus themes.

ESAS teachers work with organizations like the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) and Tree People to engage students in learning about environmental studies.

The Environmental Studies elective focuses on helping students understand and explore the relationships between different organisms, humans, and non-living components within ecosystems. As well as how human created phenomena are affecting these ecological balances and how people can help mitigate harm to our environment through both everyday actions and conscientiously engineered solutions.

ESAS also offers electives in engineering, computers, art, drama, and yearbook in order to provide our students a strong foundation in the arts and sciences.
